Changing apartments can be a tough but exciting process. Sure, there are a lot of things you need to take care of, but hopefully, you’ve found a better place to live and have a lot to look forward to as well.
Moving out of an apartment is frustrating if you don’t have a game plan. Not only do you have to figure out how to pack your things, but you also need to leave the apartment in good condition so you can get your deposit returned.
Here are five ways you can make the entire process easier.

Choose the Right Moving Boxes
When you’re moving out, you’ll be putting most of your things in boxes for easy transport. But if you don’t take care and plan, you’ll find that those boxes become more of a hindrance than a help.
The perfect box is one that you’ll still be able to carry once it’s loaded. That seems like a no-brainer, many people find a large box, stuff it with books or other heavy objects, and then wonder why they need a truck to move it.
Instead, choose smaller boxes. This may result in more trips, but you’re back will thank you once you’re finished. And if you’re packing fragile items like dishes, they have less chance of breaking.
Used a Color Code for Organization
Once you move into your new place, you may find that it’s difficult to remember where the content of each box goes. A color-coded system can make it easy to know where to everything belongs.
Choose a color to represent each room in your new place: blue for the bathroom, red for the kitchen, etc. Then, buy a pack of colored dots and affix the coordinating color to each box as you pack it. This will make unloading and unpacking so much easier.
Pack Clothes With Hangers
If you have a closet full of hanging clothes, don’t take them off the hangers! This is a waste of time and one more frustrating thing to do.
Instead, move them on the hanger. You can buy garment boxes that have a hanging pole built right in that can hold a decent amount of clothing. Or, you can buy a hanger that fits in the back of your car, which you can load and unload as many times as you need.
Moving clothes this way will also help keep them wrinkle-free.

Pack Plates Vertical
Instead of laying plates on top of one another in the box, stack them like records.
The vertical alignment will help prevent breaking and make it easier to unpack. You can still use moving paper to wrap individual plates if you want. Then, wrap the box in bubble wrap and you’re all set!
Use Linens for Protection
You have to move things like towels and sheets anyway, so why not use them as protection for breakables?
You can wrap fragile items like televisions, computers, mirrors, and picture frames right into your linens. This way, you can save on bubble and move two things at once. Brilliant!
Make Moving Easy
Don’t stress about moving out. Sure, it can be a challenge, but if you do a little planning, you’ll make the transition easier. There are tons of small things you can do to make the experience better.
